Bath with a dog

Bath is a Georgian city in the valley of the River Avon, with green hills on every side. The Abbey, the Roman Baths and Pulteney Bridge are close together in the centre, and the Kennet and Avon canal runs along the east side of town through Sydney Gardens.

The best walks start in town: the canal towpath past the Widcombe locks, the short climb to the view over Bathwick Fields, and the full Bath Skyline loop through the National Trust's woods and meadows above the city. Further out, the Cross Guns at Avoncliff sits right by the canal.
