How we check dog rules
A dog rule is only useful if it's right on the day you travel. So every fee, dog limit, beach date and travel rule on this site comes from the people who set it, and every page lists its sources with the date we checked each one.
Where each fact comes from
- Hotels, B&Bs and cottages: the property's own website first, then the house rules on its booking page if its own site says nothing.
- Beaches: the council's own dog-control pages, with the dates and the stretch of sand they cover.
- Pubs and cafes: the venue's own website or official page.
- Taking your dog abroad: gov.uk, then each ferry or tunnel operator's own pet pages.
We never use forums, reviews or other dog-friendly guides as the source of a rule.
When a place doesn't say
If a place doesn't publish a fact, we write "Not published". We never guess a fee or a limit. Ask the place before you book.
How often we re-check
- Stay rules and dog charges: at least every 180 days.
- Beach dates: every spring, before the seasonal rules start.
- Rules for travelling abroad: at least every 90 days, because they change.
The site won't build if a fact is older than that, so a page can't quietly go out of date.
What we don't claim
We don't pretend to have stayed everywhere we list. We tell you what each place says about dogs, and where we read it.
Spotted something out of date? Email hello@worldwalkies.co.uk and we'll re-check it.
