Tenby with a dog
Tenby is a walled town on a headland, with a beach on each side. North Beach curves away from the harbour below the colourful houses on the cliff. Castle Beach sits under Castle Hill by St Catherine's Island, and South Beach runs a mile and a half from the town cliffs past the dunes to Penally.
In summer, head for the Penally end of South Beach: park at Penally station and walk the short path across the golf course and through the dunes. Out of town, the coast path runs north to Waterwynch Bay and south over the Penally cliffs. The National Park asks you to keep your dog close and in sight there, and on a lead near sheep and cattle.

Dog walks
Tenby to Waterwynch · 2.3 miles
A National Park circular walk of about an hour from North Beach, up onto Cornish Down and down to Waterwynch Bay, a small sand and pebble cove. It's easy to moderate but steep in places, on bridleways and field paths that can be muddy. Keep your dog on a lead where livestock graze.
Penally Cliffs · 2.6 miles
An hour and a half on the clifftops from Penally out to Giltar Point, looking across to Caldey Island. The route crosses the Penally firing range, which is closed when red flags fly; the walk's map shows a short cut, and the range office is on 01834 842358. Keep your dog on a lead in fields with livestock.
Penally station to South Beach · 661 yards
A short, level path from the car park by Penally station, through gates over the railway, across the golf course and through the dunes to the dog-friendly end of South Beach. There are toilets in the car park.
