Parking: West Cliff car park on Pavilion Drive (439 spaces, open 24 hours, charges 9am to 6pm from 1 March to 31 October only).

Quick answers about beaches in Whitby

Are dogs allowed on Whitby beach?
Yes, with a summer exception. Tate Hill Sands on the east side of the harbour allows dogs all year. On the West Cliff side, dogs are banned from 1 May to 30 September between the West Pier and a point roughly halfway along the beach chalets; the rest of the sands towards Upgang and Sandsend is outside that zone.
Are dogs allowed on Sandsend beach?
Partly. From 1 May to 30 September dogs are banned from the beach in front of the village, between the steps below the Sandhills toilets and the slipway at the southern end of Bank Bottom car park. Outside those dates the whole beach is open to dogs, and the sands beyond the zone stay open all year.
Are dogs allowed on Robin Hood's Bay beach?
Yes, all year. North Yorkshire Council lists dogs as allowed at Robin Hood's Bay, and the bay has no seasonal ban in its dog order. Only walk the shore towards Boggle Hole at low tide.
